Early morning kick off at Airdrie for the 08s Whites against the might of Gartcairn. A grass park, playing a bit heavy is always a test of stamina & also brains- get the ball to do the work.
A tight opening to the game didn’t see much openings. Blantyre Celtic didn’t squeeze the game enough , with the back 3 not doing anything with but just not getting up & out quick enough. Something to work on. The midfield didn’t get the ball wide quickly enough & this lead to the game just becoming a midfield battle.
The second half was a different ball game. Playing from the back with a quicker tempo, getting the ball wide & into dangerous areas saw Blantyre Celtic really take the game to Gartcairn. They couldn’t live with the work rate or quality. This period saw Blantyre Celtic score 3 goals & be in complete control.
The last part of the game saw a number of changes in position for a lot of players. This will benefit them greatly going forward in understanding the game. Gartcairn fought their way back into the game due to this but everyone of the boys stood up to the test & fought for everything.
Well done all involved.
Blantyre Celtic man of the match....
Pierce- outstanding performance.
Special mention to Bailey & Sam for work rate & football
Thomas was superb when he went to the back.
Zac showed much better movement & willingness to get involved.
Kieran pulled off a couple of outstanding saves- especially the one he tipped on to the crossbar.
Onwards & upwards
